Week 6 - Moodboard Refinement, Audio Sourcing, and Prototype building.

Week 6 - Moodboard Refinement, Audio Sourcing and prototype building. Finalising the moodboard After some additional feedback, I changed the moodboard for the fourth time to resemble something that can be done in a college environment along with the resources available. I will try to build my prototype with the following design references around the beta build. Audio Sourcing I did some concept testing with friends and found that they responded best to a cute robotic grunts that reflect emotion more than words. Which I think fits well based off my reference and research of Wall-E. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6EpSWmQxlM Prototype Building I spent time polishing up the prototype and soldering on the wires unto the motor shield and battery supply. The only parts remaining that require installation are the micro servos and the ultrasonic sensor. After that its all up to testing whether the batteries are capable of supplying the entire prototype. Sketches for visual For the rough...

Week 5 - Design Proposal Refinement

Week 5 - Design Proposal Refinement Data Collection / Research I've changed my Insights, Problem Statement, and Idea to link more closely with one another. This will tie the project closer together and to solidify its design purpose. Moodboard Update I've changed my original moodboard into something more familiar and down to Earth. These designs are not what I aim to achieve 100% but it does prove to me that functionality and aesthetic visuals do come hand in hand together. For now the new moodboard is what I plan for my prototype to look like, the finalised design will depend on how the prototype functions. Old Moodboard (Polished Design and Functionality) New Moodboard (More Functionality than Design) Prototype Progress Not much done recently due to my busy schedule and side effects from the vaccine. Will continue building the design by next week. Self Reflection - Data Collection/ Research What I learned is I should be more specific in my research and to always dig deeper ...

Week 4 - Prototyping

Week 4 - Prototyping By week 4 I focused more on prototyping than actual research, after understanding how Vector worked and spending around 2 weeks studying its behaviour and design. Besides updating the problem statement, insight, and adding a purpose statement, not much to change regarding the other segments of the title. I've updated the moodboard to fit a more suitable style that is more simple and accommodates what resources I have available. I'm confident enough to continue the prototype by combining all the parts together with the code. I spent the week on building the prototype and deciding on what features would be best implemented and how to make the prototype function. Below is a setup on how and what parts I sourced for the creation of the prototype. Parts Installed The Chassis - I managed to build the entire chassis of the robot in a week, its taking longer than I had planned for this to be done and I haven't even added in the other parts for the robot. I'...

Week 3 Progress - Peers sharing and idea refinement.

Week 3 - Peers sharing and idea refinement. After 3 weeks of compiling research and idea developing. I've managed to make some small progress for the entire Independent Project. The details are listed below. Research New questions regarding how positivity affects the interviewee's day. I added some additional research regarding the positivity to dig deeper into what positivity really means and does for the interviewee's. Additional questions were added as well which eventually helped me to find what my problem statement and insights were. Peers Sharing Session The feedback during the sharing session was good, they understood everything from the research linking to the topic and concept idea. The questions asked were how the concept idea would help to link between positivity and the concept idea would work with it, but after some giving some explanation everything was understood and there were no further questions. Prototype Progress The parts I've ordered arrived a week...
