Week 3 Progress - Peers sharing and idea refinement.

Week 3 - Peers sharing and idea refinement.

After 3 weeks of compiling research and idea developing. I've managed to make some small progress for the entire Independent Project. The details are listed below.

Research

New questions regarding how positivity affects the interviewee's day.

I added some additional research regarding the positivity to dig deeper into what positivity really means and does for the interviewee's. Additional questions were added as well which eventually helped me to find what my problem statement and insights were.

Peers Sharing Session

The feedback during the sharing session was good, they understood everything from the research linking to the topic and concept idea. The questions asked were how the concept idea would help to link between positivity and the concept idea would work with it, but after some giving some explanation everything was understood and there were no further questions.

Prototype Progress

The parts I've ordered arrived a week ago and I've brought them to the Fabrication lab to be built over the month. The parts that I've bought and received so far are :

Gearbox (For controlling and moving the tracks/wheels)

Chassis (The main body of the entire prototype)

Battery Case (Comes to a total of 11.5 Volts, just enough to power the prototype)

Case Study - Vector

Privacy and Security Evaluation of the Anki Vector Robot | Common Sense Education

I also did an early case study based off the design of Vector the robot, it's suppose to help with being a house pet/companion to its owners. I hope to take inspiration from this little robot to see how much of its features/capabilities am I able to borrow.

Below are just the slides that I created for personal references, which can be found here :

Self Reflection - Data Collection / Research
From last weeks consultation with the lecturer, I managed to build up a more secure form of what exactly is needed to for my research. I added new questions to see how positivity affects interviewee's in their lives, and the outcome was that interviewee's become more productive in life, from building a shack to even deciding to en-roll into a college. This will surely help to strengthen my research and provide vital facts and proof to my research.

Self Reflection - Vector Case Study
Vector is a very interesting piece of creation, its price is also equally impressive, but it is all justified. Vector's A.I continues to be updated over time, years after its release to the public. Despite its size, Vector has a big personality that is always surprising, curious, and adorable. Vector is made from a large technology company and it is safe to say I lack the resources or skills to replicate a design such as Vector. I am however able to take its interactions and simplify it into something smaller and simpler

Self Reflection - Prototype Parts
I managed to procure the parts required for building the prototype from Shopee, which I was lucky too because most of the parts were almost out of stock. I roughly know which parts functions and what it does but it wouldn't hurt to do additional research on which part does what.
