Week 12- Battery Fitting/Testing, Change of Plans, and Audio testing.

Week 12 - Battery Fitting/Testing, Audio testing and Change of Plans.

Fitting the battery

After printing out the 3D casing for the battery holder, I started the testing it by attaching copper tapes to the edges and layering them, it worked for some time but was not a reliable method.

I attempted to secure the copper tape on the positive side since that was the one that had the least connection and thus not powering the entire device. The connection broke as I added more copper tape and in the end I had to change my plans for the entire project.

Audio Testing

Testing the audio setup I've come to the conclusion that the MP3 player is properly setup but the issue lies most likely that the MP3 player isn't registering the SD card or that the SD card doesn't have the correct file format since I'm using a Mac to upload the audio. I'll have to bring a USB with me next time to test out the design.

Change of Plans

I scrapped the servo idea along with the electret microphone as they proved too much of a hassle to implement. I will instead focus on fixing the battery holder issue along with implementing the audio feature. After that I plan to add more coding behaviours to B.U.G.GY before finalising the design for the appearance of the robot.

Self Reflection - Battery Holder
The battery holder is holding up weeks of progress for the project, I need to quickly remodel and print out a sleeve and holder for the robot. If it doesn't work and I don't finish it in time I'm done for.
